#417 - make host identifier configurable within Fleet <thread>
Osquery now exposes more information during host enrollment than Fleet previously handled. ^ which osquery version introduced this? What is the fleet behavior if I have old osquery versions connecting?

Also, reading the new docs, I _think_ this is the case but want to check my understanding: • if I set
    osquery_host_identifier
    to
    instance
in fleet, even if osquery's flags specify
    hostname
as the identifier, fleet will use a unique per-instance tag as the identifier?

which osquery version introduced this? I'm not sure exactly but I think it's been quite some time. What is the fleet behavior if I have old osquery versions connecting? Fleet uses the identifier osquery provided

if I set osquery_host_identifier to instance in fleet, even if osquery's flags specify hostname as the identifier, fleet will use a unique per-instance tag as the identifier? yes
